Livestreams guide: go live with your audience

Updated on

With Livestreams you can go live on eSponsor, right from your browser with your camera. Your audience watches you, writes in the chat and can support you with donations while you stream.

You can choose whether your stream is public or pay per view, so only people who pay get in.

You can manage them at esponsor.com/app/livestreams.

How to create your first stream

  1. In your Creator dashboard, go to Monetization → Livestreams.
  2. Tap Create my first livestream.
  3. Choose the Audience (explained below) and tap Create Live.

Your stream is created and ready for you to join and start streaming whenever you like.

Who can watch: the audience

AudienceWho watches
PublicAnyone with an eSponsor account. If they don't have one, we ask them to sign up or log in to get in.
Pay per viewOnly people who pay the Price you set. Each person pays once for that stream.

To use Pay per view you need to set a Price. If you haven't, we'll ask you for one before you start.

You can change the audience mid-stream. For example, start public to draw people in, then switch to pay per view for the exclusive part. We'll ask you to confirm the change, and people already watching are updated right away.

How to stream

  1. Open your stream from the list and tap View.
  2. Allow eSponsor to use your camera and microphone. If you have several cameras, pick the one to use.
  3. Check that your camera looks good in the preview.
  4. Tap Start. We'll ask if you're all set and, once you confirm, you'll be Live.
  5. When you want to finish, tap End.

The chat opens when you start the stream. Before that, your audience sees that you're on Backstage.

Tip: use a good internet connection and test your camera and lighting before you start.

Where your audience watches you

Your audience joins your stream from your profile, in the live section of your page. Tap Copy link in your list of streams to share it on social media before you start.

Viewers can:

  • Watch and listen to your stream, full screen if they like.
  • Write in the chat, if they're logged in.
  • Leave a tip to support you.
  • Pay to get in, if your stream is pay per view.

Donations and alerts on your stream

When someone donates during the stream or pays to get in, we announce it in the chat, for example "John donated $5". An alert also appears over the video for everyone to see.

In Settings, under Live alerts, you can choose:

  • Text size: Small, Medium or Large.
  • On-screen position: Top, Center or Bottom.

There's a Preview so you can see how they look, and you can send a test alert. If you stream with OBS or other software, also see how do streaming alerts work.

Moderate your stream

While you stream you have a Controls panel. There you see the Connected users and can:

  • Ban from chat someone, so they can't write.
  • Ban from video someone, so they can't watch your stream.
  • Delete messages from the chat.

Under Blocked users you see who you've banned, from the video or the chat, and you can tap Unblock if you change your mind.

Recordings

When you end a stream, we save the recording. You'll find them under Recordings, inside your stream. Tap Open to watch one. If you just finished and it doesn't show up, tap Refresh recordings.

Manage your streams

In your list of streams you see each one with its date and status: Scheduled, Live, Ended or Cancelled. From there you can:

  • View the stream to go live or check its settings.
  • Edit its audience.
  • Copy link to share it.
  • Delete livestream. This can't be undone.

Ideas for your streams

  • Q&As with your community.
  • Behind the scenes while you create.
  • Premieres or product launches.
  • Pay-per-view classes, tutorials or workshops.
  • Celebrations when you hit a goal.
